Manchester Biofoundry

Manchester Biofoundry

Manchester, UK

The Manchester biofoundry is harnessing the power of SynBio to access synthetically bioderived chemicals and (non)natural products towards 'greener' more sustainable manufacturing processes. We have developed a highly integrated interdisciplinary technology platform with truly world-leading infrastructure towards engineering biology workflows, from enzyme engineering and DNA pathway assembly to strain engineering, unlocking new biological routes to natural and non-natural compounds. Through the automated platforms and analytical facilities for engineering biology we aim to unlock new potential from synthetic biology and protein engineering. The Manchester biofoundry is hosted by the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) providing state of the art infrastructure for biomolecule engineering that is embedded in its foundational and translational multidisciplinary science programmes.
